Our products are manufactured 100% in Switzerland. We make sure that our suppliers come from Switzerland and that we keep procurement channels as short as possible. Our products are processed by hand in our factory and tested for quality in several stages, with a lifetime guarantee on our self-developed AC motor.

1950
Roger Perrinjaquet invents the bamix®
A Swiss man, Monsieur Roger Perrinjaquet, invents a new type of appliance, which is registered for patent as an "appareil ménager portatif” - "portable kitchen appliance” on 6 March 1950. The patent specification describes the world's first hand blender. The new blender is given the name " bamix®", an abbreviation of the French "battre et mixer" (to beat and mix).
1953
bamix® is patented. Werner Spingler and Josef Gschwend found the company ESGE AG, Germany
On 31 January the patent is registered. Mr. Gschwend and Mr. Spingler found the company ESGE in Germany (the name is based on the initial letters of the two gentlemen, namely "S" and "G" (pronounced "ES" and "GE"). With initially 7 employees, they produce bicycle supports, saws and small electric motors.
1960
Establishment of the production company ESGE AG in Mettlen TG, Switzerland
In November 1960, another production company, ESGE AG, Elektrogerätefabrik, is founded. For this purpose, a former textile factory dating back to 1906 was acquired in Mettlen, Switzerland, where daily production of 250 appliances began in the course of 1961.
1961
Re-design by Acton Bjorn and Count Sigvard Bernadotte
Dutch and Belgian employees regularly exhibit at trade fairs in England, which soon becomes the most important sales country for bamix®. Demand is so strong that delivery delays occur. The housing of bamix® M60 (60 Watt) is redesigned by Acton Bjorn from Denmark and Count Sigvard Bernadotte from Sweden. The result of their work was the M100 model, in which ergonomics were already given high priority at the time. Even 50 years later, this design is still easily recognisable despite many changes to details and technical improvements.
1964
Sale of ESGE AG to General Electric, USA
Mr. Gschwend and Mr. Spingler sell their company to the largest American electrical group, "General Electric". The Americans attempted to refloat the faltering conglomerate and very quickly reduced the number of production companies, of which only the sites in Mettlen/Switzerland and Neuffen/Germany were retained.
1977
Market entry in Australia, foundation of bamix® Australia Ltd.
In August 1977, ESGE took part in the trade fair in Melbourne (Australia). This first trade fair outside Europe was such a resounding success (with almost 1,000 bamix® units sold) that more units had to be flown in during the fair. As a logical consequence, the new representative founded the company bamix® Australia Ltd. and bamix® soon became one of the most recognised brands in Australia.
1986
Premiere of the bamix® Processor
This year sees the launch of the bamix® Processor. This additional device can be used to grind and chop not only dry but also moist foods very finely.
1991
Launch of 5 cm longer bamix® Gastro
Various professional chefs ask us to produce a bamix® that is "only 5 centimetres (about 2 inches) longer". After many practical trials in hotel kitchens, we launch the " bamix® GASTRO" that year and are surprised ourselves by the success of this professional appliance in the following years.
2009
Special Edition with Gordon Ramsay
In 2009, bamix® proudly partnered with world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay to launch a special edition hand blender. This collaboration combined the expertise of a global culinary icon with Swiss precision engineering. Ramsay's passion for performance and precision matched perfectly with the bamix® philosophy resulting in a unique edition that quickly became a favorite among both professional chefs and home cooks.
2015
Inauguration of the new building in Mettlen for the Swiss sales company and the bamix® shop.
The new building in Mettlen for the administration and logistics of the Swiss sales company is completed. It serves to optimise communication and the exchange of experience. The bamix® shop is opened at the same time.
2019
In cooperation with the world-famous star chef Jamie Oliver
In cooperation with the world-famous star chef Jamie Oliver, the exclusive bamix® Jamie Oliver set is launched with special recipes created by Jamie Oliver, accompanied by videos of the star chef on various social media channels.
2022
Market launch of the new bamix® cordless
After many years of intensive development and testing, the latest addition to the bamix® family is born. The cordless bamix® cordless fulfils the high-quality requirements and is launched on the markets in the BASIC, PLUS with more power and PRO versions for the professional Horeca sector.
2024
bamix® celebrates its 70th anniversary
In 2024, bamix® proudly marks 70 years of innovation, Swiss craftsmanship, and culinary excellence. To celebrate this milestone, two exclusive anniversary colors have been introduced.
