Get the most out of your bamix®

One device, many jobs. Here you will find what each attachment is made for, the techniques that work best, and how to look after your bamix® so it lasts for decades.

Before you start

How a bamix® works

A bamix® is a hand blender with an AC motor developed in Mettlen. You work directly in the pot, bowl or beaker – no jug to fill, no blender to take apart. The attachment at the end of the shaft decides what the device does: chop, purée, whip, emulsify or grind.

The corded models have two speed settings. As a rule of thumb: start on level I, switch to level II for larger quantities or firmer ingredients. Keep the attachment submerged while the device is running to avoid splashing.

Included with most models

The core attachments

These attachments do most of the everyday work. Which ones are included depends on the model – see “What’s in the box” on each product page.

Multi-purpose blade

The all-rounder. Chops, purées and blends everyday ingredients – soups, sauces, smoothies, baby food and dips.

Beater blade

Incorporates air. Whips cream and egg whites until stiff and froths milk. Not made for chopping.

Whisk blade

Stirs and emulsifies. Ideal for mayonnaise, dressings, sauces and light batters.

Meat & vegetable blade

For firm ingredients. Chops and purées raw meat, fish and raw vegetables.

Accessories

Attachments for more

Processor

A small chopping bowl for herbs, nuts, onions and cheese – dry and moist ingredients.

Powder disc

An insert for the Processor that grinds spices, coffee and nuts into a fine powder.

Grinder

For dry ingredients such as nuts and spices – grinding and powdering.

SliceSy®

Grates, slices and chops larger quantities with precision. Not compatible with the cordless models.

Beakers & jug

Sized for small to large batches, so you can blend without splashing and measure at the same time.

Stands & wall holder

Keep the device and its attachments tidy and within reach on the countertop or the wall.

Techniques

Six techniques worth knowing

1

Whipped cream

Use the beater blade in a tall beaker with well-chilled cream. Move the device slowly up and down and stop as soon as the cream holds its shape.

2

Egg whites

Beater blade, a clean and grease-free beaker, room-temperature egg whites. Keep the blade just below the surface to draw in air.

3

Mayonnaise

Whisk blade. Put all ingredients in a narrow beaker, place the blade on the bottom, switch on and slowly pull the device up as the emulsion forms.

4

Soups and sauces

Multi-purpose blade directly in the pot. Tilt the pot slightly, keep the blade submerged and move it through the soup until smooth.

5

Smoothies

Multi-purpose blade. Add liquid first, then soft fruit, then firmer pieces. Blend on level II until there are no lumps left.

6

Raw vegetables and meat

Meat & vegetable blade. Cut ingredients into small pieces and work in short bursts with an up-and-down movement.

Care

Care and cleaning

1

Rinse right away

Rinse the shaft under running water directly after use, or run the device briefly in a glass of warm water.

2

Only the shaft goes in

Immerse the shaft only. The motor housing must never go into water or the dishwasher.

3

Unplug first

Always unplug the device (or remove the battery on cordless models) before changing or cleaning attachments.

4

Attachments

Wash attachments by hand with warm water and a little detergent and let them dry before storing.

5

Storage

Store the device on its stand or wall holder so the shaft can dry and the attachments stay together.

6

Service

If something does not feel right, contact the bamix® partner in your country. Repairs and original spare parts are handled locally.

Help

Quick help

It splashes

Keep the attachment fully submerged, use a taller container and start on level I.

The cream does not get stiff

Use the beater blade and well-chilled cream with sufficient fat content. Too much cream at once makes it harder.

The mayonnaise splits

Start with all ingredients at room temperature in a narrow beaker and keep the whisk on the bottom until the emulsion forms.

Pieces stay whole

Cut firm ingredients smaller, use the meat & vegetable blade and work in short bursts.

The device does not start

Check the plug and the socket. For cordless models, check that the battery is charged and correctly inserted.

Something is worn or broken

Blades, attachments and wear parts can be replaced individually. Your local bamix® partner will help.
